Scotts’ architecture had become fragmented and complex, making it difficult to scale and maintain. The team needed to modernize their Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform, upgrade from SFRA 5.1 to 7.0, and consolidate 14 brand-specific sites into two unified B2C storefronts with shared catalogs for the U.S. and Canada. Along the way, they faced turnover with multiple design agencies and needed a steady, trusted partner to stabilize the project and drive it forward.

Studio Science was introduced through Salesforce to perform a code review and readiness assessment, identifying opportunities for efficiency and long-term scalability. From there, the team delivered a comprehensive SFRA 7.0 upgrade and provided hands-on development support as the project expanded to include a full redesign. Key work included:

  • Conducting a detailed cartridge and code audit to identify simplification opportunities
  • Streamlining integrations with SAP, Stripe, PCI PAL, and OrderGroove
  • Reducing redundancies in the codebase and cleaning up CSS for easier maintenance
  • Supporting the transition from 14 regionalized sites to a single shared catalog architecture
  • Ensuring flexibility to accommodate new designs and brand updates throughout the process
